Zoom Rambler - Route 66

Found this a number of years ago off the old stretch of Route 66 as it runs south from Barstow, through Oro Grande, and a few other wide spots in the road, to Victorville.

My best guess is this is a 1958 or '59 AMC Rambler Super 4 Door Sedan

Zzyzx Road along the I-15 in California

In Zzyzx, California

Zzyzx Road is a 4.5 mile / 7.2 km long, part paved and part dirt, rural collector road in the Mojave Desert. It runs from Interstate 15 generally south to the Zzyzx settlement.

The name Zzyzx, pronounced /ˈzaɪˌzɪks/ (pronounced as "Zie-zix" with the accent on the first syllable, rhyming with "Isaac's", not "physics"), was given to the area in 1944 by Curtis Howe Springer, claiming it to be the last word in the English language. Springer made up the word's pronunciation. He established the Zzyzx Mineral Springs and Health Spa at the spot, which was federal land that he had no permission to use. He used Zzyzx until 1974, when he was arrested by the United States Marshals for misuse of the land as well as alleged violations of food and drug laws, and the land was confiscated by the government.

URINAL!

Outside Barstow, Ca

This was the only bathroom/gas station/ food for about 50 miles outside of vegas. They boasted a "water fall urinal" on this scrolling sign. It amounted to peeing into what looked like a lawn display at the Home Depot

Pictures of the Ginavin Sisters

Pictures of the Ginavin Sisters

I spent a ton of time on the website reviewing your last Newsletter. You are really doing this up right. I looked at all of the pictures and all of the comments. Please list me as someone that is coming. I already made reservations at the Hampton Inn, so I am IN! I am including a few pictures in case anyone wonders whatever happened to the Ginavan Sisters, and for crying out loud, one of me without big hair — what was I thinking. I thought I would also include one with my 2 kids, I will spare everyone the details on how great they are, since I will have plenty of time to brag on them at the reunion. And of course, I included one of Jim and I so people would know I really am married, since I seem to come solo to all the reunions.
